Saver Plus - A message from the Smith Family

Thursday 22 Dec 2011

Saver Plus is a nationally recognised program that pays people $1 for every $1 they save (up to $500) to help pay for education. It was developed by ANZ and the Brotherhood of St Laurence in 2002 and is delivered in the local area by The Smith Family.

By joining Saver Plus you could receive up to $500 to help pay for school items like computers, books and uniforms.

The program is Australia's first financial literacy and matched savings program and was designed to help families achieve a savings goal, establish a long-term saving habit and pay for educational expenses

Saver Plus works by:

  • providing financial education training
  • offering personal financial coaching support
  • matching every $1 participants save with an additional $1 (up to $500) and
  • providing this program free of charge to eligible participants

To be eligible you must:

  • be a parent or guardian of a student attending school this year or next, or be intending to attend or currently attending accredited vocational training yourself
  • have a current health care card or pension card
  • have a regular income from paid employment (part-time and casual work may be acceptable)
  • live, work, study or have children in school in the area
  • be over 18 years old.

Saver Plus is giving families a brighter future by providing an incentive to save for education
