Harmony 2011

Wednesday 23 Mar 2011

“It has been my pleasure again this year to present a display of Harmony Day Posters by local students in my office window.”

“For the past two years I have held a competition for local schools to submit their art work celebrating the cultural diversity of our community.”

“Last year, Waddington Primary School participated and this year I am pleased to exhibit the work of John Septimus Roe Anglican College year 7 & 8 students.”

“The art work gives my window a kaleidoscope of colour that the passing community have enjoyed and is a fitting beginning to lively celebrations throughout the electorate on Harmony Day.”

Last Friday Janine attended the Boyare Primary School harmony day celebrations and is looking forward to the Mirrabooka Primary School celebrations on Thursday 24 March, in addition to the Community Festival to be held at the Mirrabooka square shopping centre.

“The Mirrabooka Harmony Day Celebration at the shopping centre is now a regular festival organised by the local community to foster understanding in our community and celebrate the rich cultural diversity it has to offer.”

The Mirrabooka Harmony Day Celebrations will commence at 11am and will include welcome to country; free food tasting; live cultural music & dance; children’s activities; art and craft and information stalls.
